It has been mentioned that the cheat looks like Pikachu from the famous Videogame/TVshow
Pokemon here are some things:
Similarities
- both are yellow
- both are rodent like
- both have a limited vobcabulary, yet are fluently understood by their caretakers
Differences
- Pikachu has stripes, the cheat has spots
- Pikachu has a long lighning-bolt shaped tail, The Cheat has hardly any tail
- Pikachu can use electrical attacks, The Cheat can not (It would be cool if he could, though)
- Pikachu can say its own name in English, The Cheat cannot speak any English
- Pikachu has long ears, The Cheat has no visible ears
- Pikachu is a "good guy", The Cheat is a "bad guy"
- There are many Pikachus, but there is only one The Cheat that we know of
- The Cheat has teeth (and a gold one!), and Pikachu has no teeth to speak of
Supporting Details
- The Cheat's AIM is Cheatachu89
- In the Cheat's Theme song, Pikachu floats by when it says "Who's the man who looks like The Cheat"
- In Strong Bad's web page, he says it is about "My The Cheat, The Cheat" which suggests that there is more than one The Cheat. -Lord Karkon
- Both The Cheat and Pikachu are named after their species. -Lord Karkon (no, they're not. The Cheat is named after the fact that he helped Strong Bad cheat in the strongest man in the world contest) -wazup90210 Oh yeah? Check out [THIS!] -Lord Karkon
- The Cheat did come first, however, as he was featured in the original Homestar book in 1996 and Pokemon first came out in Japan in 1997. -Fishie McGee
Note that The Cheat has gone through a few renovations since then. -
Lord Karkon
The only change I can see is he's a bit darker. He's the least changed of the people from that book. -FM
Actually Pokemon was released in Japan in February 1996.

That proves nothing except for the for the fact that you are, or were at one time, obsessed with Pokemon.
No, it means that Fishie was wrong about the release date and Pikachu came first. That means The Cheat
could have been inspired by Pikachu. But it's still not very likely.--
DG
I see nothing on there about a release date. Also, I highly doubt TBC based The Cheat on Pikachu because I don't think they were Japanese video game nerds when they wrote their original story. At that point it was just a coincedence. -
CE5
The release date is right under the picture. --

There was a halloween episode where The Cheat dressed up as Pikachu, wasn't there? -
Gemini
No, but he has been Garfield, Izzy, and Punchy. -
M'fox
On the quiz, there is a question about the Cheat's Halloween costume, and Pikachu is one of the options, but it is incorrect.
It seems obvious that
The Brothers Chaps noticed the similarities. They certainly bring it up enough (His screen name, his theme song, etc.) I seriously doubt that they actually based him on Pikachu, though. I’d say it’s a coincidence that they noticed and took advantage of. –
Fishie McGee
Well if Pikachu and The Cheat were in a fight The Cheat will win it. He will have ducktape on his eyes and he wouldn't use his hands. Just like in the toon The Interveiw.-
LimoZeener
I think that
The Brothers Chaps did not make The Cheat based off of Pikachu, but they noticed the similarities and went with it. A lot of media does that. Also, the original The Cheat had a different mouth and patterns than the current one. -
Lord Karkon
This has got to be the most stupid discussion page ever....I agree with Karkon...quit putting value into crap that has no value people!

After watching
Strong Bad email
helium, I have come to the conclusion that
The Cheat is not pikachu (even though they look remarkably similar).
The Cheat is a fine young man, according to
Homestar Runner. :)
