This is (StrongBadZone22)? here. Ever since I came here, I've noticed that some WikiUsers have deserted this place. I'm talking about people like hawk and Maz. They have not contributed to this wiki for a very long time. I'm just starting to think that their pages are a waste of space. So, what should we do with their pages? No one has commented on them or anything. Should we delete their pages? Please help me out. Thanks!- (StrongBadZone22)?

I think the really old ones should go, but there needs to be some statute of limitations. Maybe 3 months? Maz updated her page this month, so I don't think it ought to go yet. But hawk hasn't updated since November. -- InterruptorJones

Yeah, some sort of time limit would be good. Three months doesn't sound too bad. I think their names should still be listed on the WikiUsers page though. Maybe we could also make some sort of effort to contact them, perhaps someone knows them or their email address or something. I hope that you guys would notice if I didn't update in a week or so and shoot me an email to make sure I was still alive and stuff. You know... I'd do the same for you. -- Tom

Single pages such as these aren't really taking up all that much space (or bandwidth for that matter). Unless someone is repeatedly checking the page (or changing it, in which case it wouldn't be discussed here), it isn't really causing all that much trouble. 2-3 Kb per page isn't really going to hurt anybody. By taking removing them you are kinda disrupting the whole wiki idea. (Plus, I don't know how easy it would be to remove a page based on the time it was last edited... you don't want to remove the old strongbad email transcripts that haven't been touched in months, right?)

So anyway, that's just my 2 cents... for what it's worth.

I agree with Stu. Yeah, deleteing a userpage for someone who joined and then never did anything might be good, but the older userpages, they are like the history of this wiki. I remember most of those people, and i think we sould leave their userpages there out of respect of all they have accomplished. I mean, I remember when there were only like 6 or 10 active users on the wiki, and we did a ton of work. Lets just leave them. -JamesGecko

Stu's got a point. The biggest issue we're facing right now is not space, it's bandwidth. Pages from members who haven't contributed in a while aren't really affecting our bandwidth. The pages themselves are actually taking up much less than even 2 kb, since they are not pages in the literal sense, but rather simple entries in a SQL database. They get populated into the index page on the fly whenever someone requests that particular document. I don't think there's anything wrong with keeping these documents around until we start approaching our disk space allotment. I'll definitely let you know when/if this happens, but the chances are pretty slim. If we go with OnSmart, we'll have a gig of space to play around in. --JoeyDay

I don't think you should delete their pages, probably contact them somehow and let them know that once you have a username you have a responsibility. -PrincessofStrongBadia

That sounds good. Like Stu said, it wouldn't be in the wiki tradition.--TubularLuggage

I agree with da princess. BUT! I think we should search out these AWOL users and bludgeon them to death with...a stone...yeah...like a rock.... AgentSeethroo

I emailed Maz not too long ago, but she still hasn't answered me back yet. Is anyone here in close contact with her?- SBZ22

I have her aim addy StrongBadFanGirl. She's on a lot, i guess she just never goes to the wiki. -arro

I'm just curious to know how long someone has been gone. I don't want to have to
surch tediously through "recent changes". -CE5
