Did you notice, when SB is holding up last names, the last one (Desterhoft) is the actual last name of the person who wrote that email (Jeffrey Desterhoft) -- AwesomeGuy That was one good email. They keep getting better and better. But where was PomPom? You can't leave PomPom out! - FireBird That was pretty darn amazing!! It was hard, because I wanted to laugh a lot more, but I was scared of waking my roommate up. But man, that was the most incredible homestarrunner dealie I have seen in quite a while, and it's all been pretty awesome anyway. I love those guys!!!!!! -- love, socey That was a really good one. I laughed so hard, and a Homsar appearance never fails to make me laugh even harder, so when he showed up at the dance contest, I just lost it :) -Moe45673 Hey.. I just realized that this is partially based on MY OWN EMAIL, but I don't get any credit in it!! Here's the email I sent last Friday:
Date: Fri, 4 Jun 2004 09:49:57 -0700 (PDT) From: "soce, the elemental wizard" Add to Address Book Subject: dance To: strongbad@homestarrunner.com Dear Strongbad, You guys should throw a dancing competition! your fried, soce, the elemental wizard
And lo and behold.. a dance competition. Well, I guess it feels good to know that I inspired that, even though my actual name doesn't appear in the email anywhere. That's pretty funny.... --YA BOY eocs You don't know for sure you inspired it. - FireBird That was good. I especially liked the "fake" The Cheat with the real The Cheat inside the box... PrinceOfTown I liked The Cheat wearing the vest, "Delorted!", and Homsar dancing. Queen Of Town i think strong sad dancing would make an awesome animated GIF thing. great email. sid_hophman What was Homestar singing? (Senji)? *"And then I put it on my faaaace" Hey does this happen to anyone else? At the very end of the e-mail, I hear the beginning of the easter egg, even though I didn't click the easter egg. I just hear Strong Bad start to say "Attention" into the Target phone. A similar occurence happens in suntan right before the Homsar Easter Egg. The easter egg starts even though I didn't click Gooblies but then the e-mail continues like normal. --Hobophobic *Sometimes if the animation of the cartoon falls behiend (usually on a slower computer), the sound gets ahead. That also usually happens when you play any flash animation on a Pocket PC -kidovathere *This happens with several Easter Eggs, notably the one at the end of Mile. It doesn't happen any more, but after the paper came down the first few notes of the song would start playing. Well, it did with me, anyway. I've never experienced that problem with the Gooblies egg, though... --Upsilon I love the part when the fake Strong Sad is on the couch and SB is interview the real one. ~CB "Oh, right, right, the worst song I ever heard", The e-mails are getting much funnier -kidovathere In the time when he wwanted Coach Z to say "DELETED!" I think that was my email that got deleted.-Nelson339 *I highly doubt that. - FireBird **It's plausible --Hobophobic **Umm... But the only thing showing at that point is the A> prompt. -- PrinceOfTown ***Okay, here's the scoop. What's on the screen when Strong Bad is talking to Coach Z is the same thing that is on the screen when he is talking to The Cheat about finding his throne. This is interesting, as he typed another whole page between talking to The Cheat and Coach Z. I think this is definitely Fun Fact material. What do you think, Hobo? -- Tom ***I'd say yeah. I think continuity errors are fun. I'm a nitpicker... --Hobophobic ***They were obviously reusing the background of when Strong Bad was talking to The Cheat -kidovathere This sbemail was hilarious. Best in a while. Great appearance of Marzipan. Funny Strong Sad bits. "No Loafing" sign is back! Fragment galore!--Mike ---- This was moved from Fun Facts. It wasn't really a fun fact to begin with and just became a discussion. So I moved it here. --Hobophobic Strong Bad and the epitaph say "kicking cheats" not "kicking the cheats." Anyone else find that out of the ordinary? *Not really, the "the" has become in a looser sense since those Cheat Commandos cartoons *Yeah, but in the Cheat Commandos cartoons, they're not referring to The Cheat, they're talking about some other different Cheats - Pianoplayerontheroof *Only THE Cheat is "The Cheat". The "cheats" in Cheat Commandos are "other" cheats (well, except maybe Firebert). Strong Bad might have to find other cheats to kick in the hereafter. And it doesn't make sense to say "kicking The Cheats". - J-J *That sounds right, but how come in episode 100 Strong Bad said "And out came a life time supply of fish sticks... and A (*hint*hint*)The Cheat!" I don't think he said a The Cheat out of accent. He said it more like The Cheat was some sort of species. Otherwise, he would have said "and a Cheat!" He also says "Awesome! My very own The Cheat" Somebody's gotta tell those Chapmans that they're supposed to have any references to The Cheat as... The Cheat! Even if plural! **Note that in that email Homestar Runner is also "The" Homestar Runner. If Homestar Runner can drop "The" when not in duckshirt land, "Cheats" can do the same. --Xhad *Yeah, but Strong Bad thinks that a jillion is a real unit of measure, so I wouldn't trust everything he says. --Upsilon *I think it really all depends on the context. In the 100th e-mail, "a The Cheat" fit because, well, the rest of the storybook was silly anyway.. I mean, The Cheat came out of fish sticks? As for "Kicking Cheats", it'd look better on SB's tombstone anyway. --Runstar Homer *"Kicking the Cheats" just straight up looks and sounds cooler. Context/grammar/etc aren't even an issue to me. --Hobophobic *Well maybe since he was referring to general "Cheats" and not The Cheat, that is why there is no "The". It couldn't have been "kicking The Cheats" because there is only one The Cheat. -kidovathere *It certainly does make it sound like he's refering to a species. Especially now that we have so many Cheats in Cheat Commandos, -- PrinceOfTown *I think the rule of "the" and "cheat" is that the cheat that we know and love is "the" cheat. There are obviously other cheats in existence who are referred to as just "cheats" since the grave said "cheats" (note the "s") ---- Wow...that's um...really...interesting. Ok I lied. This discussion is a kinda goofy. Agent "bleh" Seethroo ---- Once again Homestar's eyes keep switching around. Usually the pointed end of his "6" shaped eyes face front. Many other toons also have them like this. -kidovathere ---- I swear I thought that same email up the dat before it came out. I was gonna send it to him. HE COULDA ANSWERED MY EMAIL!!!!!!!! --Furious, AgentNine ---- Yeah, like the first person said.. it brings something up.. where in the heck is Pom-Pom? I haven't seen a cartoon with him starring or in one in a while.. did he move? Did he get sent to the moon? Even in the 100th e-mail I didn't remember him being in there. Just wondering. I mean, he's Homestar's best friend. ~TheAwesomePersonage He was in 100. --Hobo He was also in 'theme park'. - Tim I swear that the second scroll buttons song that Marzipan played, was the same beat as an Offspring song. I also noticed that when she was playing her guitar, there is no picture in the picture frame above the couch. - B Man Actually, if you watch "Where's the Cheat?", it says "Thank You". - FireBird You don't see The Poopsmith or The King of Town either! - Da Bee I was really confused when Homestar sang in the dance contest "And then I put it on my face...". I thought it sounded like "Do I have pudding...on my face..."-BurninatorBoombox |
