Easter Eggs
- Click on The Cheat's computer screen when Strong Bad says "Oh yeah, The Cheat; he's a... striped green rabbit with two butts" and you will see a The Cheat render of such a rabbit.
- Click on The Cheat's computer screen when Strong Bad mentions "the guy who draws The Lockhorns" to see a The Lockhorns-style The Cheat
- During Coach Z's video, there is a small 3-D clip for those of you who remember the end of stunt double.
Fun Facts
- The 8-bit sprite of Coach Z running back and forth during his video is a re-rendering of Capcom's original Mega Man.
- The part about pouring hot soup in Homestar's eyes is a reference to different town.
- The alien is from Main Page 1.
- You can see the striped green bunny fly by in the Coach Z video.
- The Coach Z Video in this toon is the second time we actually see a green Coach Z in one of The Cheat's videos, the first was in "These peoples trying to fade" me from the Strong Bad Sings CD.
- Coach Z reverts to his old-school purple The Cheat style during his lines "Cool time!" (personally, I think it's smooth time) and "The Locomotive!"
- It is interesting to note that there is no single "guy" who draws The Lockhorns. The Lockhorns was created in 1968 by Bill Hoest, who then collaborated with his wife, Bunny for twenty years making it. When he died in 1988 Bunny kept the cartoon going. Currently it is still done by Bunny with the help of her assistant, John Reiner.
- Brunswick Stew is a real stew. You can make your own with this "poem" [recipe], written by Virginia S. Woodroof in 1930. For more information, visit [this site]
- The Cheat's boots are a reference to the David Bowie (and later covered by Nirvana) song "The Man Who Sold The World". On the inside liner cover of the similarly-titled album, there is a picture of a cowboy holding a shotgun, with a pair of boots with dollar signs on them that look almost exactly like The Cheat's. (That was the American cover - the original cover was of David Bowie in drag.) (Its not the american cover- that does have a coyboy, but no shotgun and no $ visible on the boot.)
- We actually have seen evidence of Strong Bad wearing underwear before, in the Strong Bad Email stand-up.
- The futuristic sound played when we hear Nebulon go by is the same as the one heard when Strong Mad goes up into orbit in Marshmallow's Last Stand.
- In "step 3" of Coach Z's dance, his arms bend backwards
- The real name of this toon is "New Boots" but when it was linked on the main page it was referred to as "Powered by the Cheat"
- This toon first aired right around Easter. Thus the rabbit and the "hip-hop dance"...
- When Strongbad says "High five, The Cheat!" and their hands go into space, is the country Australia where their hands are coming from? Coz It sure looks like Australia with a little Tasmania at the bottom.
Lyrics to "Hip Hop Dance"
Ladies all the time be askin' me,
"Coach Z, how come you don't dance no more?"
And I say ladies.... ladies
Just gimme a chance to do a hip hop dance
gimme a chance to do a dance.
oh yeah
gimme a chance to do a hip hop dance
gimme a chance to do a dance.
both times
The Roger rabbit, the cabbage patch, the locomotive
Coach Z, how come you don't dance no more?
Just gimme a chance to do a hip hop dance
gimme a chance to do a dance.
gimme a chance to do the hip hop dance
Come on, take a chance.
